1. B.P.E. (3 Years) (Bachelor of Physical Education)

This is a regular course of three years duration leading to the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education of S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati.
ADMISSION : The qualifications for the admission to B.P.E. First Year are as follows :

The First B.P.E.( ) candidate shall have :

Passed the Pre-University OR 12th standard Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with English as one of the subjects of passing or any Indian Language or any Examination recognized as equivalent there to of any other Statutory University or Statutory Boards.

Passing Percentage and Division
In order to pass the examination, the examinee must obtain not less than 25% marks excluding the Internal Assessment marks and 30% marks in each Theory paper as a whole and not less than 40% marks in the external examination of the part-II and III at the first, Second and Final B.P.E. Examinations and also obtain not less than 40% of the aggregate prescribed for each part and for each examination as a whole of the First, Second and Final B.P.E. Examination
There shall be no division of successful examinees at the first and second B.P.E. Examinations. Successful examinees obtaining 65% or more marks in the aggregate for the First, Second and Final B.P.E. Examinations taken together inclusive of all the parts of the examination, namely-Theory, Skills and Practice Teaching shall be placed in the First Division; those obtaining less than 65% but not less than 50% in the Second Division and all other successful examinees in the 3rd division.
Successful examinees obtaining not less than 75% marks in a Paper of the Theory Part of the Examination shall be declared to have passed the examination with Distinction in that Theory Paper and those obtaining not less than 80% of the total marks in Part-II or Part-III of the Examination shall be declared to have passed the examination with Distinction in that Part.
Successful examinees at the (First B.P.E.) Examination or the (Second B.P.E.) Examination Shall be entitled to receive a Marks Sheet signed by the Chairman Examination Board and Controller of Examination of the college and those successful at the (Final B.P.E.)Examination shall on payment of the prescribed fees, receive a Degree, in the prescribed form, signed by the Universities / College Authorities.

2. B.P.Ed. ( 1 Year Course ) Bachelor of Physical Education

This course of one year duration leading to the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education has been introduced by the S.G.B. Amravati University from the academic session of 1984-85.

The syllabus contents of B.P.Ed. course are revised and brought up to date to meet the
requirements of secondary systems of education..

With a view to equip the teacher with modern methodology of teaching theoretical and practical subjects in schools, the B.P.Ed. course contents have bifocal arrangement and a special subject named Educational Methodology is added as a subject which enable the students to master any one of class room subjects teaching.

This course is recognized by NCTE and the State Govt. of Maharashtra and those possessing B.P.Ed. ( 1 Year ) degree will be considered eligible for the appointment as trained teachers in Secondary schools throughout India.

Qualification for admission

Qualification for admission to the Examination for Degree of B.P.Ed. (One year ) Course are as follows :-

1 (a) Graduate with Physical Education as an elective subject with 50% marks OR

(b) Graduate in Physical Education (i.e., B.P.E. of three years duration) with 45% marks and

OR

(c) Graduate having participated in National / State / Inter-University Sports / games / athletics / SGFI.

OR

(d) Any Graduate who participated in School , Inter-collegiate in Sports/Games OR passed NCC 'C' Certificate.

OR

(e) For Deputed / In service candidates (trained Physical Education teachers / coaches ) Graduate with 45% marks.

OR

(f) Any Graduate qualifies the C.E.T. conducted by the college with 40% marks.

3. M.P.Ed. (Two Years Course ) ( Master of Physical Education )

This Post-graduate course of two years duration has been started by the college in the year 1973-74. The Examinations of this course shall be conducted by this College and the successful candidates shall be awarded Master’s degree in Physical Education in the prescribed form of S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati.

The purpose of introducing this course is to promote higher leadership in physical education. Those possessing this degree will be qualified to be appointed in the service of State Government at higher administrative posts like Director and Dy. Director of Sports. State Inspector of Physical education and District Sports Officer etc. and lecturers in physical education and Director of Sports or Sports officers in the Universities and Colleges.

Thus, there is vast scope of employment for those possessing the M.P.Ed. degree.
The S.G.B. AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY has also made provision for registration of candidates possessing M.P.Ed. Degree for Ph.D. in Physical education. The college offers research facilities and Fellowship to the deserving students for the prosecution of their higher studies and research work.

Examination Leading to the Degree of Master of Physical Education ()

1.The following shall be the examinations leading to the Degree of () Master of Physical Education, namely :- i. The () M.P.Ed. Previous Examination ; and
ii. The () M.P.Ed. Final Examination
2. The duration of the course shall be of two academic years with the () M.P.Ed. previous examination at the end of the first academic year and the () M.P.Ed. Final examination at the end of the second academic year.
3. The examination for Previous and final year shall be held once a year and for final year shall be held an instant examination after 30 days after declaration of result for the failures and ATKT students.
4. The Eligibility :

a) The eligibility for the admission to M.P.Ed. Previous is as follows :-

(i) Candidates who have obtained at least 55% marks in B.P.Ed. OR B.P.E OR Bachelar of science(B.Sc) in health and physical Education and Degree in sports. professional degree are eligible for admission.

(ii) There shall be relaxation of marks 50% reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the Rules of the
concerned State Government.

b) The admission to M.P.Ed. Final :- The candidate shall have passed M.P.Ed. Previous or ATKT in previous
examination is eligible.

Note: The practical examinations in Section I - Practical in computer operation

Section II - Conduct of test on various physical fitness, motor fitness, educability test, strength test, cardio vascular efficiency test and games and sports skill test to be organised by the students.

Section III - Physical efficiency performance : National physical efficiency drive battery of five items will be applied to assess the physical efficiency of the student.

Section IV - Group research project : A group of five students will complete and submit a research project under the supervisor.

Section V - Student has to give performance in athletic items one from track, one from jumps and one from throws of his / her choice and student has to conduct coaching class of one hour duration on any item.

Rules for Dissertation

  1. A candidate admitted to M.P.Ed. Semester -III with minimum 55% marks in aggregate in previous examination (Semester-I + II)and has passed both semester-I and II can only opt for the dissertation in lieu of Paper V. He / She should submit a synopsis as per the guidelines given in prospectus of M.P.Ed. to the Head of the Department for the consideration before 15 th September of the academic year.
  2. The Research Committee approved by Academic Council shall meet in the third week of September of the Calendar year to finalize and approve the topics of dissertation.
  3. The Research Committee may prescribe to communicate conditions as it may deemed fit and the candidate shall comply with the conditions.
  4. The candidate shall conduct research in his subject of dissertation for one academic year and submit his / her dissertation to the Head of the Department within five months from the date of approval of the subjects. The HOD will submit it to Controller of Examination in the month of March of the session.
  5. If the candidate finds that he/she cannot submit the dissertation by the date, he/she shall apply for extension of time to the Head of the Department.
  6. The dissertation shall be submitted through the supervisor of the candidate to the HOD [printed or Type Written] in Five copies.
  7. A candidate shall submit with his/her dissertation a certificate from his supervisor to the effect :-
    i] That the candidate has satisfactorily conducted research for not less than one academic session.
    ii] That the dissertation is the result of the candidate’s own work and is of a sufficiently
    high standard to warrant its presentation for examination.
    iii] That it is satisfactory in respect of literary presentation.
  8. The candidate may write his/her dissertation in any of the three languages viz English, Hindi or Marathi opted as medium for examination.
  9. The scope of the subjects shall be as indicated in the Syllabus.

EXAMINATION

An examinee shall have to pass any semester with 40% of marks prescribed in each paper including internal assessment and 50% in aggregate in theory and 50% in aggregae in theory and 0% marks in practical s.He shall be admitted to next semester as per the following eligibility table

1. The sudent can appear for practical examination of the preceding semester in the next semester as per the eligibility norms for Admission to next semester as per eligibility table.

2. The Fee for the examination shall be as prescribed by the college from time to time .

3. Every applicant for admission to Semester-I,II,II and IV examination shall e examined to subjects,papersand practicals as indicted in the Regulation.

4. D.Y.Ed. ( 1 Year ) ( Diploma in Yoga Education )

The purpose of introducing this course is to provide opportunity for acquiring higher knowledge and skills in this ancient science. Yoga as a subject of study has been introduced in schools and colleges in many States of India. Special posts have been created for the teacher of Yoga Education to serve at the educational institutions. Thus, there is vast scope of employment for those possessing the Diploma in Yoga Education ( D.Y.Ed. ) This D.Y.Ed. Course would fulfill the increased demand of “Yoga Teachers.”

ADMISSION

a) Candidate passing 3 years Degree Course of any recognized university can be admitted to this course.

b) Candidate must have completed the age of 19 years at the time of admission.

5. P.G.D.Y.T. ( 2 Years ) (Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy)

This Post Graduate Diploma Course of two years duration in yoga therapy started from the session 2006-07, under the 10th plan scheme of U.G.C. i.e. Teaching & Research interdisciplinary and emerging areas.

This is the only college in India which has proposed the said course to start from the session 2006-07. The final examination of this course is conducted by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati and successful candidate will be awarded P.G. Diploma in Yoga Therapy.

The purpose of introducing this course is to provide opportunity for acquiring higher knowledge and skills of this ancient science with the following objectives.

a) To promote positive health, prevention of stress related health problems and rehabilitation through Yoga.

b) To impart skills in students to introduce Yoga for Health to general public and Yoga for total personality development of students in colleges and Universities.

c) To Invoke scientific attitude and team spirit to channelise their energy in to creative and constructive endeavors.

d) To enable them to establish Yoga Therapy centers for the service of common man.

Eligibility for Admission

a) Candidate passing three years degree course in any faculty of any recognized university can be admitted to this course.

b) Candidate must have completed the age of 19 years at the time of admission.

6. M.A. Yogashastra ( Two Years ) Master of Arts in Yogashastra

Objective of the Course:

  • To prepare professionals in Yogashastra who can effectively teach at Colleges and Universities.
  • To train individuals to work as Yoga Teachers / Yoga Therapist.
  • To enable individuals to pursue research in Yogashastra and Allied disciplines.
  • Eligibility for admission: M.A. Yogashastra First Year
    1. B.A. (Yogashastra) of 3 years OR B.A. with optional subject Yoga / Yogashastra of
      3 years duration of any statutory university in India OR B.N.Y.S. OR B.P.E. OR any graduate with D.Y.Ed. OR P.G.D.Y.T. OR an examination recognized as equivalent of any statutory university in India.
