The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) programme is a professional programme meant for preparing teachers for Physical Education in classes VI-X and for conducting physical education and sports activities in classes XI-XII.
B.P.Ed. is a teachers training progamme of two years duration. It is designed in such a manner that, the programme integrate the study of childhood, social context of Physical Education, Subject knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, aims of physical education and communication skills. This programme comprises of compulsory and optional theory courses and compulsory school internship. The theory and practical classes are assigned and revised time to time and in broad alignment with the curriculum framework suggested by NCTE.
With a view to equip the teacher with modern methodology of teaching theoretical and practical subjects in schools, the B.P.Ed. course contents have bifocal arrangement and a special subject named Educational Methodology is added as a subject which enables the students to teach any one of class room subjects with mastery.
This course is recognized by NCTE and the State Govt. of Maharashtra and those possessing B.P.Ed. (2 Year) degree will be considered eligible for the appointment as trained teachers in Secondary schools throughout India.

The Master of Physical Education (MPEd) programme is a professional programme meant for preparing physical education teachers for senior secondary ( Class XI and XII) level as well as Assistant Professors / Directors / Sports officers in colleges / universities and Teacher Education in colleges of Physical Education and Department of Physical Education in Universities to promote and pursue research and to promote higher leadership in Physical Education. Course is recognized by NCTE and the State Govt. of Maharashtra
Thus, there is vast scope of employment for those possessing the M.P.Ed. degree. S.G.B. AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY has also made provision for registration of candidates possessing M.P.Ed.
